Terms of Service

1. About these terms

These terms apply to every order placed on this website. By placing an order you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or have a parent or guardian’s permission) and that you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.

The shop is run by:

2. Books and condition grades

Most of our books are pre-owned, single copies. Each one is inspected by hand and given a condition grade, with photographs and notes on any markings, wear or damage. We describe every copy as accurately as we can, and the grade and notes form part of the description of what you are buying.

Because you are told about a copy’s condition before you buy it, wear or markings that were disclosed in the listing are not a defect and are not grounds for a return. Please read each listing and look at the photographs carefully before you buy.

3. Prices and payment

All prices are in South African rand and are the full price you pay for the book, including any applicable taxes. Delivery is charged separately and shown at checkout before you pay. We may change prices at any time, but the price you see at checkout is the price you pay.

Payment is taken by card through iKhokha, a secure third-party payment provider. Your order is confirmed only once payment succeeds and you receive our confirmation email. If an error in price or description is obvious, or a copy turns out to be unavailable, we will contact you and refund you in full.

Coupon codes are subject to the conditions shown with them, cannot be exchanged for cash, and only one can be used per order.

4. Mission-work contributions

At checkout you may choose to add a voluntary contribution towards mission work. It is entirely optional, is shown as its own line on your receipt, and does not affect the price of your books. It is not refundable, unless we are unable to fulfil your order. Kingdom Books is not a registered public benefit organisation, so we cannot issue section 18A tax certificates for these contributions.

5. Delivery

We deliver within South Africa only, by The Courier Guy to your door or by PAXI to the PEP store you choose. Delivery usually takes 7–9 working days from payment; this is an estimate, not a guarantee. You will receive tracking details once your parcel is dispatched.

Please make sure your address and phone number are correct. If a parcel is returned to us because of incorrect details or because it was not collected, we may charge the cost of sending it again. Ownership and risk pass to you when the parcel is delivered or collected.

6. No returns or refunds

All sales are final. We do not accept returns, and we do not give refunds or exchanges if you change your mind. Because books are excluded from the cooling-off period in section 42 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, no cooling-off period applies to your order.

The only exception is a mistake on our side: if we send you the wrong book, or it arrives damaged in transit, email us at orders@kingdombooks.co.za with your order number and a photo within 7 days of delivery and we will put it right.

7. Use of this website

The text, photographs and design of this website belong to Kingdom Books unless stated otherwise, and may not be copied for commercial use without our permission. Book covers and titles remain the property of their publishers and authors. You agree not to misuse the site, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, or interfere with its operation.

8. Our liability

We take care to keep the website accurate and available, but cannot promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. This does not limit any liability that cannot be excluded by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act.

9. Complaints and disputes

If something goes wrong, please email us first — we would much rather put it right. If we cannot resolve a complaint, you may refer it to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in force when you place an order are the ones that apply to it. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
